The Department of Petroleum Resources (dpr) is an important federal government agency in Nigeria. The agency is charged with the responsibility of ensuring compliance to petroleum laws, regulations and guidelines in the Oil and Gas Industry. The name “Department of Petroleum Resources” (dpr) was assigned to the body in 1988 after the Petroleum Inspectorate was excised from the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, and transferred to the Ministry of Petroleum Resources as the Technical arm and then renamed DPR.
