Requirements for Country Director

  • Applicant must have a Master’s Degree in Development Economics, International Affairs, International Public Policy, or a field related to International Economic Development;
  • Applicant must have 8-10 years of relevant work experience, including 5 years in a management position; preferable experience in research and policy engagement.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead large teams and multiple projects;
  • Applicant must have experience in developing research projects, experience with budgeting and project planning;
  • Applicant must have significant exposure to human resources and financial management;
  • Applicant must have a passion for connecting rigorous research to policymakers and practitioners and communicating what works in development;
  • Experience in grants and contracts management, preferably in a research setting;
  • Good quantitative skills and familiarity with randomized controlled trials is an added advantages;
  • Commitment to leading a diverse team in a multicultural environment and building staff capacity;
  • Ability to communicate effectively across cultures with multiple stakeholders including international and local academic researchers, government officials, NGO partners, enumeration teams, and study participants;
  • Excellent management and organizational skills and ability to work independently;
  • Flexible, self-motivating, able to manage multiple tasks efficiently, and a team player;
  • Experience living and working in Africa;
  • Applicant must have experience in managing complex safety and security situations or working in volatile countries;
  • Fluency in both written and spoken English is required;
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.

Requirements for Research Associate, APPEALS Socio-Emotional Skills Project

  • Applicant must have 2+ years of relevant work experience in research, international development, and project management.
  • Applicant must have a Master’s Degree in Development Economics, International Public Policy, or a related field.
  • Applicant must have experience supervising large data collection research projects, including leading survey design, implementation, and data management; background in randomized control trials.
  • Applicant must have experience working on both quantitative and qualitative data collection.
  • Applicant must have intermediate/Advanced knowledge of statistical packages such as STATA, R, and Python.
  • Demonstrated capacity to produce high-quality publications.
  • Superior analytical, quantitative, and conceptual thinking skills.
  • Ability to present information in a structured and insightful way, both in writing and orally.
  • Self-starter, entrepreneurial mindset, versatility, and strong multi-tasking skills.
  • Experience working on sensitive issues related to gender and social norms.
  • Experience with data visualization.
  • Significant applied econometrics skills.
  • Applicants must have a passion for making data-driven decision-making a reality in the development sector.
  • Applicant must have the ability to manage and coordinate diverse teams across stakeholders, including academic researchers, field staff, and government and private sector partners.
  • Experience working with diverse teams across multiple locations, including extensive remote locations of team members.
  • Detail-oriented, flexible, self-motivating, and able to manage multiple tasks efficiently and under pressure.

Requirements for Operations Coordinator

  • Applicant should have Minimum Bachelor’s Degree-level in Education;
  • Applicant must have a minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience, preferably in an NGO
  • Applicant must have experience managing compliance requirements for an NGO in Nigeria
  • Applicant must have experience with a wide range of donors
  • Applicant must have experience with operations support management
  • Applicant must have excellent management and organizational skills
  • High attention to detail and ability to multitask effectively
  • Strong communication skills and ability to represent an organization professionally
  • Sensitivity to working in a culturally diverse organization
  • Master’s degree an added advantage
