The Edo State Government, led by Governor Obaseki, implemented the Edo Basic Education Sector Transformation (EdoBEST) program to improve basic education across the state. Through EdoBEST, the government is transforming learning outcomes for the 300,000 children across 1,029 public primary and 471 junior secondary schools in Edo State. EdoBEST is a Government-designed and led program that is re-training all 15,000 government teachers – novice and experienced – to be technologically supported and empowered teachers.

Requirements for Director, Policy & Partnerships
- Bachelor’s Degree with superior academic performance;
- Over 4 years of experience in government program delivery or working in account management or as an engagement manager;
- In-depth experience building and systematically managing key complex relationships and accounts to ensure program delivery in a complex, multi-stakeholder program or project;
- Previous experience working with a Ministry of Education on program delivery, preferred; If not within education, experience with another government delivery program or project, such as in health or ICT;
- Confidence, authority, and level-headed decision-making are needed as the leadership voice for the program;
- Knowledge of local, state, and federal government issues related to the provision of primary education in the country would be preferred;
- Ability to balance commercial interests and social benefits – a blend across business and political acumen, but also high emotional intelligence and relationship-building skills;
- Experience acting as an on-the-record spokesperson;
- Highly capable and thoughtful problem-solving skills; able to act as an intermediary and a solutions-driven lead, to ensure effective collaboration and communication between the Government client and our organization;
- Prior experience within a fast-paced, high-growth, metric-driven operational organization will be an advantage;
Requirements for Managing Director
- Bachelor’s Degree essential, MBA (or Master’s) would be preferred.
- At least 10 years of progressively responsible experience working in project management and design in developing countries, preferably including experience in the state or country to which you will be assigned.
- At least 5 years of management experience, including direct supervision of professional and support staff and assembling teams working in multi-faceted roles including field-based roles.
- A proven track record of excelling in the leadership of operational teams, as well as in design-thinking, process and system design and application, and managing complex and inter-related functions, as this will be critical in overseeing a large-scale school system transformation.
- Prior experience within a fast-paced, high-growth, metric-driven operational organization will be an advantage.
- Strong management skills, leadership qualities, professional reputation, and ability to build or access key contacts within the Ministry of Education or equivalent local and state regulatory bodies.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with government representatives, for-profit private sector entities, local community organizations, donors, consortium members, and other stakeholders, at national and sub-national levels.
- Respect and sensitivity towards cultural, gender, ethnicity, and religious diversity.
- Maturity and confidence in dealing with high-ranking officials of government institutions, international institutions, and non-government institutions.
- Demonstrated excellent communication and writing abilities and superior interpersonal and cross-cultural communication skills.
- Demonstrated hands-on experience in building the Ministry of Education (or other relevant Government entity) and devolved structures capacity in developing and realizing education strategic plans to provide quality Education services is a plus.
- Passion for our vision of democratizing the right for all children to succeed.
- Local knowledge from operating in the South East or South West region, preferably with government stakeholders and ability to speak the local language (Igbo, Yoruba)
Requirements for Director, Communications
- A Master’s Degree
- 8+ years of relevant experience in communications.
- An established network of local and national media contacts.
- Experience of being the lead external relations contact for media and stakeholders.
- A strong sense of the news agenda and ability to make issues and campaigns relevant.
- Experience in handling crisis communications.
- Experience supporting the creation and delivery of social media and digital campaigns.
- Experience working with or for the government in a communications capacity.
- Experience in Nigeria of working in communications for political, campaigning, non-profit, or social enterprise. Experience with a multinational organization is a plus.
- Experience working within a matrixed global organization.
- Strong experience in creating and executing communications plans and strategies.
- Strong writing and editorial skills.
- A strong sense of teamwork and ability to both manage and execute programs.
- An extremely proactive and determined attitude.
- Prior experience within a fast-paced, disruptor, metric-driven consulting or educational organization is a bonus.
