Malteser International has been working in Nigeria since 2017. In Northeast Nigeria and more specifically in Borno State, MI is currently active in the WASH sector for improving the lives of both the IDP population as well as the host communities. The WASH activities focus on improved access to safe water, sanitation, and hygiene. They include NFI distribution, solarization of boreholes, rehabilitation of hand pumps, construction of latrines, and hygiene promotion. Malteser International thereby applies a participatory, gender-sensitive, and inclusive approach.

Requirements for WASH Officer

Applicants Must Have a First Degree in Engineering, Geology, Geography, or other WASH-related fields from a recognized/accredited Tertiary Institution in Nigeria
Applicants Must Have An advanced degree will be an added advantage
Applicants Must Have At least 3 years post-NYSC relevant experience in the NGO sector
Applicants Must Have Previous experience with other local and international NGOs
Applicants Must Have Training and experience in the borehole and VIP latrine construction/rehabilitation
Applicants Must Have Community mobilization and advocacy experience
Applicants Must Have Computer literacy (MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint)
Applicants Must Have Fluency in English and Hausa spoken and written
Applicants Must Have the Ability to work in partnership with the government and other NGO staff
Applicants Must Have Good interpersonal skills
Applicants Must Have Ability to work within a team setting
Applicants Must Have Independence, adaptability, and flexibility with good workload management, multitasking, and the ability to meet tight deadlines

Requirements for M&E Assistant (Maternity Cover)

Applicants Must Have University Degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or any Social Science related field
Applicants Must Have a Minimum of 2 years of relevant professional experience in the MEAL sector
Applicants Must Have Knowledge and Skills: Good analytical and writing skills/ very good team spirit /Demonstrate a willingness to improve their knowledge and skills by participating actively in any training sessions and capacity-building activities.
Applicants Must Have Computer Skills: Knowledge of MS Office software (including Word, Excel, Outlook) and a basic understanding of data analysis packages such as SPSS, Epi-Info, etc.
Applicants Must Have Language skills: Fluent in English, Hausa, and other local dialect in the context of Borno State, (speaking /reading/writing).
Applicants Must Have Strong report-writing skills.
Applicants Must Have Strong planning and organizational skills

Requirements for Protection Officer

Applicants Must Have a University Degree in Social Sciences or a related field with a minimum of 3 years of relevant professional experience in the Protection sector (including at least one year in a supervisory role)
Applicants Must Have Strong technical knowledge in general protection and GBV programming (i.e., protection monitoring, case management, psychosocial support activities)
Applicants Must Have Strong report writing, planning, and organizational skills
Applicants Must Have a Commitment to accuracy and attention to detail.
Applicants Must Have the Ability to plan, balance and cope with competing priorities.
Applicants Must Have Good standard of IT including proficiency in using MS Office, especially Excel spreadsheets.
Applicants Must Have the Ability to manage teams and initiate and organize work.
Applicants Must Have Ability to establish priorities in a time-sensitive environment and meet deadlines.
Applicants Must Have Excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills.
Applicants Must Have the Ability to work in a team-oriented environment while maintaining an individual workload.
Applicants Must Have a Logical and flexible approach to solving problems, especially when working under pressure.
Applicants Must Have Good English skills (speaking and writing); knowledge of beneficiary languages (Hausa and others)
